A scribe is someone who writes books and other documents and assists a community in keeping track of their records.  Demotic script was a cursive form of Egyptian hieroglyphics that was used from the 7th century BC to the fifth century AD.  Demotic script was usually carved into stone.  Egyptian scribes painted or carved hieroglyphics on the walls of temples and tombs. Scribes used plants and flowers to make ink to write with.  The Rosetta Stone is important because it has allowed us to learn about Egypt’s written language and ancient Egypt.
